독일 프랑크푸르트 국제 도서전, 이탈리아 볼로냐 국제 어린이 도서전, 그리고 한국의 서울국제도서전까지. 매년, 세계 각 대륙과 나라를 대표하는 국제 도서전이 열린다. 굳이 국제 규모가 아니더라도 크고 작은 도서 관련 행사들도 많다.
터치 한 번이면 즐길 수 있는 화려한 볼거리들이 넘쳐나는 시대에 책은 여전히 사랑받는 존재다. 지식과 정보의 수단을 넘어서 영상매체가 대체할 수 없는 문자 매체만의 매력이 아직 남아있기 때문이다.
가을에 열려서 더 좋은, 로컬의 Book Festival 두 곳을 소개한다.

Summerlin Library Outdoor Fall Festival
책과 문화를 중심으로 열리는 Summerlin Library Outdoor Fall Festival.
10월 5일 토요일. 서머린 도서관에서 가을 맞이 Festival이 열린다. 어린 아이부터 어른까지 전 연령이 참여하고 즐길 수 있는 프로그램으로 다채롭다.
오전 10시 30분. 네바다 챔버 오케스트라가 들려주는 잔잔한 가을 음악이 메인 스테이지에서 연주되면서 축제가 시작된다.
대규모 중고 서적 박람회에서 좋은 가격으로 책, CD, DVD를 구입할 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 도서관 실내외에서 다양한 문화 프로그램이 준비되어 있다.
도서관 내부에서는 어린이 공예, 성인을 위한 아트 클래스, 스토리텔링, 인형극이 펼쳐지고, 실외에서는 어린이를 위한 페이스페인팅, 풍선아트, 할로윈 데코, 라이브 공연 등이 진행된다.
이밖에도 라스베가스 청소년 단체 Culture Shock의 댄스 공연, 드럼 연주 , DJ 공연 등으로 다채롭게 꾸며질 예정이다.

‘네바다에서 가장 오래 된 문학 축제’ 네바다를 대표하는 문학 행사라고 할 수 있다. 올해로 22회째를 맞은 연례행사로 ‘Book Festival’이라는 이름답게 모든 프로그램들이 책을 중심으로 짜여져 있다. 책을 사랑하는 이들이라면 꼭 방문해야 할 곳.
도서 박람회를 찾는 이들이 가장 기대하는 행사는 단연, 작가와의 만남일 것이다. 감명깊게 읽은 책에 친필 싸인을 받거나, 작가가 읽어주는 스토리텔링 클래스를 듣는 것도 좋다. 작가와의 북토크 시간 또한 빠질 수 없다.
모든 연령대가 즐길 수 있도록 다양한 책 관련 활동, 워크숍도 열릴 예정이다.
Book Festival을 찾는 이들을 위해 다양한 분야의 도서도 구입 가능하며, 푸드트럭, 영화관람, 라이브 연주 등도 준비되어 있다.

Summerlin Library Outdoor Fall Festival
On Saturday, October 5, the Fall Festival will be held at Summerlin Library. It is a variety of programs that can be participated and enjoyed by all ages, from young children to adults.
10:30 a.m. The festival begins with calm autumn music played on the main stage by the Nevada Chamber Orchestra.
Books, CDs, and DVDs can be purchased at good prices at large used book fairs. In addition, various cultural programs are prepared both indoors and outdoors in the library.

The Las Vegas Book Festival
