F1에서 전통적으로 쓰이던 경주 주말에 ‘패독’(Paddock)이라는 이름을 삭제하는 변화를 보인다. 패독이라는 용어는 경주마들이 경주를 위해 줄을 서시 전에 모이는 방목장에서 유래해 수십 년 동안 모터스포츠에 사용되었다. 하지만 주최자들이 이 이름을 사용하지 않기로 결정한 이유는 2017년 10월 스티븐 패덕이라는 남자가 스트립의 한 축제에서 군중에게 총격을 가한 엄청난 사건이 있었기 때문이다.
F1을 준비하면서 건설이 진행되는 동안 수많은 도로가 폐쇄되었으며 전체 프로젝트 비용은 약 5억 6천만 달러로 추산된다. 경주 주최측은 네바다주 주민들이 연습을 위한 1일 관람석 티켓을 200달러에 판매했다. 500달러짜리 3일권은 이미 매진됐고, 경주 당일 티켓은 약 1,300달러에 확보할 수 있다고 발표했다. 벨라지오 분수 지역 공사에 참여하던 한 남성이 목에 큰 상처를 입고 사망하는 사건도 있었다.
